New Volkswagen ID.3 Debuts with Upgraded Design

On February 13, the new Volkswagen ID.3 Smart Edition was officially launched, offering three different models. As an annual facelift, the new car features subtle upgrades to its exterior and interior. Additionally, for the first time, it is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

In terms of appearance, the new ID.3 replaces the chrome trim on the A-pillar and roofline with black accents. The wheels have been upgraded to new 18-inch dual-tone petal-style rims, while the 20-inch Phantom Firewheel rims remain available. Moreover, two new exterior colors—Warm Cloud White and Glacier Blue—have been introduced, and the entire lineup now comes standard with an illuminated Volkswagen logo.

Inside, the new model features a larger white coverage area on the dashboard, seats, and door panels. The independent armrest has been replaced with a central armrest, now featuring a front smartphone storage slot. Rear passengers benefit from added air conditioning vents and an adjustable seat recline angle for improved comfort. Additionally, a 360-degree panoramic camera system has been made more widely available, further enhancing the car’s value.

In terms of power, the new model is equipped with a 53.6kWh LFP battery from CATL, slightly increasing capacity compared to the previous 52.8kWh ternary lithium battery. The motor output remains at 125 kW, with a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 451 km—an increase of 1 km.
