BYD Sea Lion 05 EV: Stylish Electric SUV Coming Soon
The BYD Sea Lion 05 EV can be seen as the fully electric version of the BYD Sea Lion 05 DM-i, but it features significant differences in both exterior and interior design. Positioned as a compact SUV, it is slated for official release in 2025.
The BYD Sea Lion 05 EV adopts the Ocean Net design language. Its front end sports sleek, full-width headlights and a dynamic front bumper with trapezoidal air vents on both sides. In terms of dimensions, the EV measures 4520/1860/1630mm (length/width/height) with a wheelbase of 2720mm, slightly smaller than the BYD Sea Lion 05 DM-i, which measures 4710/1880/1720mm and has a 2712mm wheelbase. At the rear, the EV boasts wave-inspired full-width taillights, a roof spoiler, and a youthful, modern aesthetic.
Inside, the vehicle features a digital instrument cluster paired with a floating central control screen, and it is expected to include a head-up display (HUD). The test model is equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel reminiscent of the Seal 06 DM-i and includes a column-mounted gear selector. The central console layout is likely to be redesigned. Notably, the vertical air conditioning vents add a fresh and appealing touch.
The BYD Sea Lion 05 EV is powered by a TZ200XSAY permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a maximum output of 140kW. It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack and has a top speed of 180 km/h. The vehicle also features an independent rear suspension system.
